Looking back, I'm in awe of all that I was managing and all that I accomplished during an unprecedented time.
My moment is actually a period of time being a badass without meaning to be. Spring 2019 i was in my 3rd year of my PhD and needed to complete my oral qualifying exam. I prepped during the first challenging trimester of my rainbow pregnancy, and passed with flying colors 22 weeks pregnant. Fast forward to March 2020 - COVID hits and I have an 7 month old at home with no child care support. I virtually propose my dissertation to the committee while he naps next to me and get to work designing an entirely virtual research study. 8 months later at the start of 2021, during my final semester of my PhD i am head TA for an undergraduate course, running 2 simultaneous research studies and overseeing a team of 8 research assistants, writing my dissertation, applying for full time jobs outside of academia, working a contract analyst job for a FinTech company, AND caring for my toddler 75% of the time (my husband was able to step in the other 25%). Not only did I complete all my research and submit my dissertation on time to complete my PhD in 5 years, I got not 1 but 3 job offers and was able to give myself a 6 week break before starting my job. Looking back, I'm in awe of all that I was managing and all that I accomplished during an unprecedented time.
